On this International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated Maldives’ steadfast support for the Palestinian quest for justice, freedom, and peace.

In his message via his official “X” account, he noted Maldivian government and its citizens perceive the Palestinian struggle as intimately connected to their own pursuit of rights and dignity. President Dr. Muizzu called for global political will to end Israel's occupation and hold accountable those responsible for war crimes against Palestinians. He underscored the importance of supporting Palestinian rights, grounded in the Maldives' historical commitment to solidarity. The Maldivian government advocates for the recognition of an independent Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital, in alignment with international law and UN resolutions.

On this day of solidarity, President Dr Muizzu urges the global community, including governments, NGOs, and individuals, to reflect on their responsibilities in the ongoing conflict. He stressed the importance of united efforts to advocate for peace and justice, reaffirming that the Palestinian struggle is a human issue, advocating for peace and justice as vital for regional and global stability.
