President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring equal access to rights and opportunities for children with thalassaemia in the Maldives. He called on everyone to demonstrate this principle through words and actions, highlighting the gravity of the issue and the need for enhancing public awareness and expanding access to treatment.
President Dr Muizzu reiterated the government's dedication to delivering pledges made during the 2023 Presidential Election concerning the care and support of children with thalassemia. He stated that the Administration would take tangible action to address long-standing issues, aiming to bring meaningful relief and improved well-being to affected children and their families. President Dr Muizzu urged the public to donate blood, highlighting the spiritual fulfillment and blessings associated with the act. He also called on all Maldivians to stand in solidarity and extend compassion to every child facing the challenges of thalassemia.
President Dr Muizzu also marked the occasion with a social media post, emphasizing the importance of ensuring equal access to opportunities in Maldivian society, free from discrimination.
