President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced the Maldives' vision to become a key financial center focused on Islamic Finance, driven by digital economic transformation. He stated that the initiative is inspired by the National Financial Inclusion Strategy and aims to advance the nation's development agenda.

President Dr Muizzu emphasized that the Maldives' unified identity is grounded in values of compassion, justice, and social equity, which form the essence of Islamic social finance. He emphasized that the initiative should not be seen as a program but as a call for collective action. He expressed optimism that the initiative would foster critical partnerships between the financial sector and civil society organizations to address society's diverse needs.

The National Master Plan and Roadmap for Islamic Economics and Finance is currently underway with the assistance of the Islamic Development Bank. The government is committed to legal reforms to optimize the current legal framework.
